Approved risk assessment must be communicated with crew Working area must be barricaded and safety signs must be provided
• Operatives to be warned before loads are to be moved.
• Material to be check by competent person to be safe to be moved/ lifted with the load from ground level to
check that materials are secure, stable and the lifting points are in good condition.
• When loading and unloading materials, if it is deemed unstable, the load will be put back down and a safer way
of moving it will be discussed with management and only be moved when it is approved.
• Only operatives involved in the loading and unloading operations will be allowed in the area.
• Unsafe load or lifting gear will be quarantined in a staging area
