The above named who is a student of MOUNT KENYA UNIVERSITY and pursuing
BACHELOR OF ART IN SECURITY STUDIES AND CRIMINOLOGY has been on
attachment with the department of PROBATION AND AFTERCARE SERVICES-
THIKA. His attachment period was three months dated 16/04/2022 to 19/8/2022.
During this period,he got experience and exposure on the following activities
undertaken by our department as mandated by relevant Acts:
Casework where he performed the following duties: -
 Interviewing offenders.
 Conducting Social enquiries
Report writing where he did the following: -
 Compiling pre-sentence reports on offenders
 Compiling final home reports on offenders to Borstal Institutions, Hostels and
Rehabilitation schools.
Supervision and rehabilitation of probationers and Community service
supervisees where he did the following:
 Guidance and counselling.
 Conducting home visits for purpose of reintegration, settlement and
empowerment.
 Reconciliation and forging harmony in the community.
Besides, the student acquired basic skills in court procedures, etiquette and general
office work. He was obedient, courteous, self-driven, punctual and a team player. He
has great potential to excel in his field.
