Our founding partners Ian Chua and Jolene Low, with their
distinct skillsets, diverse industry experience and foresight
have been instrumental in the setting up and continued
expansion of Ian IP.

Holds a Bachelor of Science ( Hons) degree from University

IAN Putra Malaysia. He has over 15 years of industry experience with

hands-on involvement as a professional IP practitioner

including a significant stint in one of Malaysia's elite IP firms. lan
is a registered Patent Agent specializing in IP registration &
prosecution, patent drafting, IP management & due diligence,
corporate strategy, as well as IP worldwide advisory and
registration.

Graduating with a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from University of

JOLENE London, she was the recipient of Tun Hamid Omar Foundation
Award for Best CLP Student in Malaysia in 2010. Admitted as an

LOW Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 2011,

Jolene specializes in IP litigation, banking litigation, shareholder
and director disputes, land disputes as well as IP corporate
matters.

PATENTS

Discoveries, scientific theories and mathematical methods are not patentable.

patentable but may protected as a design or by means of copyright.

A geographical indication is a sign used

geographical origin and possess
qualities or reputable characteristics
that are essentially attributable to a
place of origin.

COPYRIGHT
Copyright is a breach of intellectual
proper law that protects the proprietary
rights of authors in relation to their
created works which include literary
works, artistic works, musical works,
films, sound recordings and broadcasts.
Copyright law entitles the owner of the
copyright to control any actions in
relation to the created work for a certain
number of years.
INDUSTRIAL DESIGN
An industrial design refers to features of
shape, configuration, pattern or
ornament applied to an article by any
industrial process which in the finished
article appeals to the eye and is judged
by the eye. An industrial design cannot
be registered unless it is new.
