The Department of Arts and Sciences (DAS) – 3 rd year AB Communication Students of UM Digos
College is planning to conduct a one-day event: Public Speaking, Journalism and Broadcasting
Workshop in UM Digos College on December 4, 2023. This will be hold in compliance to the
Annual Operational Plan of the program.

The event will cover a series of academically inclined presentation from 3 RD Year AB
Communication students and activities related to Public Speaking, Journalism and Broadcasting
as a foundation of healthy, inclusive, informed, and democratic societies. The objective of this
event is trifold: (1) to introduce to selected senior high school students to the basics of Public
Speaking, Journalism, and Broadcasting and its value in the society; (2) to train and gear both
parties in doing open and interactive activities that can create a path to truly hone their talents
and skills; and finally (3) to showcase AB Communication program to SHS students and other
prospect, incoming students by hosting student activities. With this event, we believe that we
can sustain the initiatives of our University and forge strong connections from experts in the
industry.

In this regard, we would like to request for the approval of the budget of the said conduct of
activity. I have attached, along with this letter, a budget proposal, and the outline of event
with brief information of our invited resource speakers.

We look forward for a positive response. We are deeply grateful for your patience, support,
and generosity for the improvement of our academic operations and student development
initiatives.

ACTIVITY PROPOSAL

I. Title: Basic Public Speaking, Journalism ad Broadcasting Workshop

II. Proponent: UM Digos – Department of Arts and Sciences

III. Rationale: The Department of Arts and Sciences – 3rd year AB Communication
Students of UM Digos College, in our attempt to inflict knowledge and
gear-up SHS students to the basics of series of subjects, is in its effort to
conduct a basic workshop on chosen subjects along with activities for the
participants.

With this commitment aligned with Sustainable Development Goals

(SDGs) Quality Education, there is a need to impose to SHS students the
information related to achieve transparent, accountable and participatory
institutions. This event will furnish students’ talents and skills and it is
also designed to showcase DAS programs, particularly AB Communication
program, as a future career of choice.

IV. Objectives: This activity aims to:

1. to introduce to selected senior high school students to the basics
of Public Speaking, Journalism, and Broadcasting and its value in
the society.
2. to train and gear both parties in doing open and interactive
activities that can create a path to truly hone their talents and
skills.
3. to showcase AB Communication program to SHS students and
other prospect, incoming students by hosting student activities.
