Think about your values. What’s important to you? Once you’ve thought of your values, think of 2 challenges
at work that you’d love to do something about. Based on your values, outline what you’d like to do about
these situations.
Situation/Challenge Why you care about it/ your What you’ll do/ would like to
values do about the situation
A leadership story explains how you’ve previously used your values to make a decision or take action when
faced with a challenge. To help you come up with a leadership story, think of a time you encountered a
challenging situation, what you did about it (the choice you made based on your values), and how the
outcome/result contributed to your current situation.

3. Identify when you’ll tell your story and how to make it engaging
To help you practise telling your story, think about who you’ll be sharing this story with and how they will
connect with it (i.e. what values you might have in common and how they might empathise with your
experience). Share your story more than once to see how different people react to it. Make sure to write
down the feedback you receive from them.
