Drilling & Workover Organization

January 2021
The Alerts are provided to all Drilling and Workover Operations Foremen and Liaisonmen so that we all learn from the
experiences of others. The knowledge of this incident could prevent similar ones from happening in the future.
Saudi Aramco policy requires the information in this Alert to be communicated to all crew members and documented on
morning reports.

Recently, a driver from a contractor company was issued a Saudi Aramco traffic violation for
using mobile/cellular phone while driving within Saudi
Aramco facility.

The Management of D&WO would like to remind all

D&WO employees, drilling contractor and service
company employees of the prohibition of this unsafe act
and GI 6.030 Traffic and Vehicle Safety which states:

 Using portable/mobile communication devices:

radio, cell/mobile phones by hand while driving
will result in Saudi Aramco Traffic Violation
with 6 penalty points.
 All drivers within Saudi Aramco communities,
facilities or premises are prohibited from
handheld use of “mobile communication
devices” while driving such as, but not limited
to, radios (push-to-talk, two-way
communication), and mobiles/cell phones.

The Management of D&WO may also take additional

disciplinary action such as removing the right to drive
within Saudi Aramco communities, facilities or premises,
suspension of employment and up to possible termination
based on Summary Tables for Disciplinary Action and
Corrective Guidance for Traffic Violations in GI 6.030

If your mobile phone rings while driving, you

should:

 Pull over safely to the side of the road before answering

the call.
 Let a passenger answer it.
 Return the call later when it is safe to talk.
 Let it go through to voice mail.
