Khashuri Water Supply and Sanitation Project
Detailed shop-drawings design, supply, installation and testing of about 200 km of HDPE
pipes for a new water distribution network diameter ranging from 63mm to 450mm
including fittings, accessories, related manholes, 11 DMA’s chambers, 185 fire hydrants and
8,490 house connections in the cities of Khashuri, Osiauri and Tskhramukla.
Decommissioning of existing water supply pipelines.
Detailed shop-drawings design, supply, installation and testing of about 44.5 km of
wastewater gravity collectors with diameters from 200mm to 800mm for the replacement of
a part of the wastewater network in Khashuri including manholes and house connections.
The overall Project area is located in Khashuri in the central part of the Georgia. The general
objective of the project is to improve the water supply services and the wastewater collection in this
town.
1.2 Purpose
The purpose of this document is to establish the procedure for the dewatering system in the ground
where the groundwater table/ water seepage area is above the excavation level, and to remove/

attention will be paid to avoid damaging the existing fiber optic, energy, gas and other important
lines. The statement of construction method for the pipe laying work will be submitted to Police,
Road Department of the local Government and other authorities concerned prior to commencing the
work on public roads for getting their approval. Before excavation, photos of existing situations of
the coverings and surrounding structures will be taken. If there are any damages in the surrounding
areas, this will be documented and submitted for The Engineer's review.
Construction materials will be stocked in the Contractor’s warehouses. Currently Contractor holds 2
warehouses. One of them locates near the Contractor’s office area, another one locates in Surami
district. The location of water supply network construction activity is not permanent. Week by week
work will be done in different streets. Therefore, Contractor may arrange additional warehouses in
different locations to make easy the material transportation. This issue will be agreed with Engineer
and Local Authorities. Exact number of equipment and construction material will be delivered to
construction site to avoid road blockage or messy environment.

Given daily prestart briefings including Risk Assessment for the works in progress
Reported daily and other frequency indicated in QA/QC document with possible record
Made aware of the minimum PPE requirements (boots, hi-vis, hard hat, LEP)
Information and warning tables will be installed in the streets where construction activities
will take place. Information tables will include all required project information.
Because construction activities will take place in the populated streets, without flagman no
any machinery can be used at the site.
Before starting the construction activities, all required local authorities, services and utility

2.7 METHODOLOGY
The area for installing deep sump well will be marked by surveyor and the area will be checked for
existing underground utilities.
The sump well will be installed into the ground using water jet. If the strata are hard to penetrate,
then suitable bore holes will be made for installing the deep well sump.
After the hole is drilled, an Ø300mm UPVC or CHDPE perforated pipe is installed into the drilled
hole surrounded with 3/8 3/16 aggregate filter materials to prevent the fines entering the system.
The submersible pump will be installed into the perforated pipe. The pump is connected to the
electrical power generator.
The outlet of these well pumps is connected to the vertical pipes, which is connected to the suction
hose.
The suction hose transfers the water to the sand settling tank. The silts settled in the tanks will be
removed and dumped in an approved location.
The pumps will be operated until the work is completed. On completion of all dewatering activities
the bore holes will be filled with suitable approved material.
Water levels will be checked and recorded regularly to derive the drawdown.
3. INSPECTION
Through daily schedule Engineer will be informed about Inspections. As per approved Quality
Control Plan documentations site activities will be inspected by Engineer and Contractor Quality
Control team. On the QCP documents and daily schedule the location and time of inspection will be
indicated.
