Scenario 1: The Restaurant


You are a manager of a restaurant. It was Saturday evening and the restaurant is full of customers. There
are even other customers who are waiting to get seated. One of your staff, Raphael, called your
attention that Bea (another staff) is taking too long talking to a customer every time she serves them.
Because of this, other employees take time to talk to their customers as well so they’ll serve less people.
This caused a delay in the service. When you are about to call the attention of Bea regarding the matter,
you’ve noticed that her customer is one of your VIP customers.

QUESTION 1: How will you manage the conflict in this situation?


ANSWER: In this particular situation, my approach would be to allow Bea to engage in a conversation with
the VIPs initially. Once Bea has finished interacting with them, I will then step in to continue entertaining
the VIPs, which will in turn enable Bea to provide assistance to the other staff members. This division of
responsibilities ensures that there is no delay in the service being provided.

QUESTION 2: How will you build an effective team after this incident?
ANSWER: In order to enhance our service quality and productivity, I will organize a meeting to foster
teamwork and collaboration. During this meeting, I will engage with each team member and encourage
their active participation. Apart from emphasizing the importance of offering a valuable service, I will also
strive to create an environment that instills a sense of love and enjoyment for the work they do.
