1. CHAIRMAN OPENING REMARKS

1.1 A welcoming speech from Head of English Panel to the English teachers for the 1 st English Panel
meeting and the readiness for this year.
1.2 Head of English Panel informed about Head of English Department’s important information:
1.2.1 Scheme of Work and lesson plan need to complete by 4th April 2022.
1.2.2 A Word A Day still continue for this year and make sure all classes start writing it in class at
A Word A Day noticeboard.
1.2.3 New activity which is i-Think map at Block C will take turn with Bahasa Melayu and Bahasa
Cina Panel.
1.2.4 English Panel noticeboard need to update.
1.2.5 Need to share teaching aid with other panel and head of panel need to list the exact quantity if
want to order things using panel fund.

4. PRESENTATION OF PAPER WORK/ ISSUES/ REPORTS

4.1 Allocation of classes
4.1.1 Head of English Panel distributed a handout to teachers on the classes’ allocation for
2022/2023. Teachers confirmed their respective classes with her.

4.2 Yearly Scheme of Work and Lesson Plan

4.2.1 Teachers-in charge are to edit the dates in the SOW mapping according to the school’s
current year calendar. After completed the SOW mapping, the teachers-in charge needs to
give the softcopy to Head of English Panel.
4.2.2 Form coordinators for academic year 2022/2023 are as follows:

4.2.4 All teachers are reminded to use different lesson plans templates for both PDPR and PDPC
accordingly.

4.3 Schedule for preparing diagnostic, monthly and term test papers.
Our school has 4 exams; 1st Mid Term Exam, 1st Term Exam, 2nd Mid Term Exam and Final
Exam, 2 monthly tests; July and September, and one diagnostic test.

4.3.1 Every teacher has been assigned to prepare those test papers. They should observe the due
date to ensure the test papers can be prepared in time. The papers should be prepared one
week earlier to be proofread the respective teachers, verified, and signed by the principal.
4.3.2 Head of English Panel also reminded all teachers to ensure that they include in HOTS
elements in every exam paper. They also need to prepare the Quantitative Analysis after
every exam together with Jadual Spesifikasi Ujian (JSU).
4.3.3 Format for Diagnostic Test is as below:

4.4 English Competitions for Academic Year 2022/2023

4.4.1 The teachers-in charge can refer to the schedule given by Head of English Panel and Co-
curricular school calendar by PKKK.
4.4.2 The teachers-in charge needs to get ready and prepare the students for every competition.

4.5 Highly Immersive Programme (HIP)

4.5.1 Our school level of immersiveness target for this year is Level 4. It is because since 2017 until
2020, we manage to obtain only Level 3.
4.5.2 This year we have 4 HIP activities:

Out of class activity Smart Thinker (i-Think map)
Extra class English Clinic (Extra Class Online/Offline

Outreach Keep In Touch (Penpal Project)

4.5.3 Speaker Corner, Gazebo BI- Teacher will bring some students to Gazebo BI and students to
read aloud of any simple reading material (e.g. articles from textbook, magazine, or from
online). The timetable will be prepared by Miss Jessica Mapong. Teacher on duty needs to take
photos of the activity and post in the English WhatsApp group.
4.5.4 Smart Thinker- One student of each class creates or writes i-Think map on the board in Block
C. This is called ‘Smart Thinker’. The timetable for each class will be prepared by Miss Jessica
Mapong.
4.5.5 Language Month – Students will draw ‘My Inspiration’. Students may choose any of the
idioms from their A Word A Day book. All English language teachers will choose 3 or 5 best
drawings from their own classes and award them prizes. It will be a competition during
Language Month.

 4.6 PBD
4.6.1 All teachers are advised to choose any suitable work for Catch-Up Plan (CUP) to assess
students with TP3. All the activities should be based on skills that the students weak at. Then,
increase their band to TP4 if they are able to do the task given.

4.7 HOTS
4.7.1 All teachers are reminded to include HOTS questions during PDPR, PDPC, as well as in all
test or examination papers.

4.8 Panel Fund (PCG)

4.8.1 PCG or allocation for English Language Panel is yet to be confirmed.
4.8.2 All members are agreed to purchase items as below:
- drawing blocks for My Inspiration competition
- coloured papers
- prizes for any of English Programs (for students).

4.9 NILAM
4.9.1 All English Language teachers are advised to take any reading activities as NILAM. Reading
material taken from textbook, worksheet or from online sources should be recorded under
‘Bahan Bukan Buku’.
4.9.2 Students’ NILAM book will be kept in the staffroom. Cikgu Fatimah Gani will prepare a
place and label for every class.
4.9.3 All teachers are advised to remind students to fill in IQ NILAM website and the usage of
MOE email address is compulsory.

5. OTHER MATTERS
5.1 Head of English Panel reminds all teachers to keep monitoring students’ work such as exercise
books, workbook, A Word A Day book and NILAM book.
5.2 Teachers Manual for Form 1 and Form 4 are not enough. The panel needs 5 more books for Form 1
and 3 more books for Form 4.

6. CLOSURE
6.1 Head of English Panel thanks to all English teachers for attending this meeting and this year
hopefully English teachers can cooperate as usual and work efficiently.
