INUTES OF THE SECOND ENGLISH PANEL MEETING

SMK BELURAN BESTARI, 2015.

1. Welcoming Speech by the Head of English Panel.

1.1 Madam Rosminah welcomed all the English teachers especially Madam
JusiniTampolong, the Head of Language Department and the newmembers of
English panel. She also thanked them for their co-operation and attendance.
Information to ELTs

2. Confirmation of the previous minutes.

2.1 Mr.Hafshamproposed that the minutes of the 3rd English Panel Meeting 2014
to be passed. The proposal was seconded by Miss Evelyn.
3. Panels Organisation.
3.1The Head of English Panel Madam RosminahPelimin leads the members to
discuss the appointment of the panels assistant that will assist her this year.
Miss Evelyn suggested Mr.Sharizan for the position and agreed by majority.
3.2 The Co-Ordinator of English panel as stated in the table below:-

Information to ELTs

4. Post Mortem-PT3 and Form 4 2014

4.1 In summary, 112 students passed the oral examination for PT3
2014.Meanwhile, 74 students out of 252 candidates managed to pass in
written PT3 examination last year.
4.2 The panel decided to increase the passing students in PT3 this year. The form
3 teachers set high target for their students in all classes as presented in the
table below.

4.3 Therefore, the panels decided to provide extensive writing exercise task for
form 3 as schedule in the table below.

WEEK ACTIVITIES
1 Introduction of the writing format or
template for the students.
2 The students will be assigned with a writing
task to do at home.

Students will be evaluated through 40
minutes writing test in class.
 4 The students will be assigned with a writing

4.4 For form 4 students, extra classes will be given by their English subject
teacher.

5. Programme for PT3 and SPM students

The panel has decided to increase the passing students for PT3 and SPM this year
through several programmes:

5.1 PT3 Workshop will be held in April and July meanwhile, SPM Workshop
schedule to be held in March and June this year to expose the students with
the PT3 and SPM format.
5.2 Trial or Mock SPM for form 4 students will be conducted in April to evaluate
their performance level.
5.3 GALUS programme will be conducted as usual in cooperation with Unit
Bimbingan&Kaunseling (UBK) to the students with marks range from 20 to
39.
5.4 Impian A programme will be conducted for the students who managed to get
70-80 marks in English. The name list for the selected students will be
prepared by the head panel and distributed later.
5.5 Other than that, extra classes for PMR and SPM students will be started in
March. Teachers are required to take a memo from PK 1, Mr.Muhammad Din
bin Sulaiman thus distributed to parents 2 or 1 day before the extra class.
5.6 Teachers are suggested to avoid any extra class at night due to safety issue.
However, teachers can provide night classes for the hostel students in school
that begin in April until August same as last year.
5.7 Also, marking scheme workshop for all English teachers also will be held this
year to enhance the teachers marking skill. The specific date will be
informed later.

6. Co-academic programme
6.1 This year, the panels decided to run a day carnival during English week with
the special theme which is Funfair. The students will get and collect a
special stamp by joining all the activities provided.Many activities will be
held during the carnival such as language games, expo, photo booth and etc.
6.2 The carnival is in cooperation with the school English Club and Crime
Preventing Club. All the students in theclubs will fully involve as the
Facilitators.

7. Panel Performance Standard

7.1 The printed Performance Standard of English panel has been prepared by the
head of English panel and distributed to all. The English teachers are
compulsory to attach them in their Record Book as guidance.
 8. Other Matters.
8.1 Miss Evelyn mentioned that Miss Vera from PPD urged all the English
teachers to attend the MELTA Conference in June 2015.Also, the panel
already spent for about 2 thousand ringgit to buy the latest materials of
literature component for form 1 and 4 as ordered by the principal.
8.2 Madam Rosminah reminds all the teachers to incorporate the I-THINK and
HOTS in English lesson.
8.3 Other than that, there was no more other matter to be discussed. The meeting
adjourned at 11.00 am.
