Symptom
The posting logic concerning accounting documents is not clear when posting a price change in the previous
period (e.g. by transaction MR21).
Environment
Cause
Check the setting of 'Configure Price Change in Previous Period' in Customizing (transaction SPRO):
Materials Management -> Valuation and Account Assignment -> Configure Price Change in Previous Period
Resolution
1. “Price change: carried over from previous to current period” is active (marked) for the company code.
By this setting the price change in the previous period is also valid for the current period. The system
will generate only one accounting document:
Only one accounting document representing the revaluation in the previous period is posted:
2. “Price change: carried over from previous to current period” is NOT active (not marked) for the
company code.
In this case, the price change in the previous period has NO effect on the price in the current period.
Therefore, the system MUST post a reversal posting of this revaluation posting at the beginning of the
current period. Two accounting documents will be generated.
The first accounting document represents the revaluation in the previous period:
The second accounting document represents the reversal in the current period:
