Telling Time

When we ask the time, we say “What time is it, please?”


“What’s the time, please? or “Do you have the time?”

Here are the examples of telling time. Your teacher will read each
phrase/sentence below. Repeat after her/him.

Listen and repeat after your teacher carefully.

a quarter A quarter : 15 minutes
past (A) half : 30 minutes
o’clock Past : after
a half past two (2:30) To : before
a quarter past two (2:15) O’clock : sharp
a quarter to two (1:45) am. : in the morning
ten to five (4:50) pm : in the afternoon/evening
five to ten (9:50)

Read the sentences on the left column and write the time on the right column.
