Exceptions:

In compound ordinal numbers, note that only the last figure is written as an ordinal number:
twenty-fifth eighty-second ninety-sixth
We add the last two letters (st, nd, rd, and th) to abbreviate ordinal numbers.
first = 1st.

third = 3rd.
fourth = 4th.
twenty-sixth = 26th.
