Born in San Diego sometime in 1871, Basilio is the son of Sisa,
older brother to Crispin, and a sacristan at the San Diego
Parish. On All Saint’s Day, he was accused along with his
brother of stealing two gold pieces. When the sacristan mayor
arrives to beat the two, Crispin was unable to run away, while
Basilio was able to flee to his home, where he told his mother
what happened. The next day, Sisa went to find Crispin, as the
civil guards came looking for Basilio, he fled into the woods and
was found by the De Dios Family, where he was taken in and
stayed for two months. Meanwhile, Crispin went missing,
presumably killed by the sacristan mayor and Padre Salvi. On
Christmas eve, Basilio went to go look for his mother, only to
find out that she had gone insane with grief. Because of this, she
wasn’t able to recognize Basilio and fled into the woods, only for
her son to chase her. After understanding that Basilio is her son,
she eventually dies.
