51. Read the passage below and in full sentences, answer the
questions about it.

MAYANJA CHRISCENT GALABUZI

Child abuse is the violation of children’s rights. Early marriage is one form
of child abuse. At times, some parents force their girl-children into marriage
because they want wealth. This puts the children’s life at a risk because
many who get married before the right age die giving birth. A girl is fit for
marriage at age of eighteen years and above.
Some parents mistreat their children by depriving them of their total
freedom of expression. By not being allowed to talk freely, a child is living
under fear.

The law does not allow a child to do hard work that is meant for adults.
“Hard labour is for adults and light work for children,” the law states. A
child’s work should depend on the age, sex and strength. Work should not
be taken as a form of punishment.

Corporal punishments are another form of child abuse. In case a child

commits a crime, they should be subjected to light punishments, counselling
and warning. A child should not be taken prisoner. One is fit for
imprisonment when one is 18 years and above. However, children should
not take it as an excuse not to do work and to misbehave.

Children should always remember their responsibilities in society. They

should help their parents to fetch water, wash utensils, mop the house,
clean the compound, cook and many others in order to live responsibly.
Parents and teachers should guide the children on how to live meaningfully
in this world.

But the widowers as well,
You live everywhere in the world,
Rural as well as urban,
Teenagers and adults are your daily meal,
You butcher the elderly, What
a monster you are!

COVID-19! COVID-19!
You have made people’s lives meaningless,
You have made people hopeless,
You have made people lifeless,
You have halted education,
We can longer go to school,
You have made us miss our teachers,
We want to be in a learning environment again,
You have brought heartache among the people,
You have made people wear masks, What a
dangerous disease you are!

COVID-19! COVID-19!
Everyone is your prey,
Americans, Europeans, Asians, Austrialians,
And even the poor Africans are not spared,
