In the Visual Analysis essay, I learned how the Revenge of the Sith movie poster
effectively conveyed the movie's message to a diverse audience through rhetorical situations. For
instance, Essay 1 gave me a better understanding of how the Revenge of the Sith movie poster
conveyed the audience by using specific visual elements. An example is shown in Gael Quiroga's
essay when he states, "The poster uses visual elements like sword fighting, a character triangle,
and the background to engage various audiences." (Quiroga, "Star Wars Revenge of the Sith
Movie Poster Analysis," 1). As stated in Quiroga's essay, the poster used visual elements such as
sword fighting, a character triangle, and the background to appeal to many audiences, such as the
action and romance audience, and how the background helps engage audiences due to the
meaning of the background. Writing the essay gave me a better understanding of the poster since
While writing my second essay, I better understood how drafting and revising my work
can improve my writing skills. I learned that brainstorming, prewriting, drafting, and editing are
all essential steps to help me become a better writer. By following these steps, I can produce
better-quality essays in the future. To begin, I started with brainstorming to gather all the ideas in
my head. Once I had all my thoughts, I wrote them down and created a layout for my essay. This
step is crucial before starting the writing process. The "Visual Analysis Worksheet" assignment
by Dr. Nelson helped me to organize the visual evidence I gathered during the brainstorming

process, which made it easier to structure my essay. Once I completed the worksheet, I started
drafting my essay. Although it was a long process, the drafting demo video by Dr. Nelson was
extremely helpful in incorporating all my ideas into one essay. Finally, I revised my work using
various tools like feedback from Dr. Nelson, peer reviews with classmates, and editing and
proofreading my work. Throughout the essay, I learned much about drafting and revising my
work. This process has helped me to understand the importance of brainstorming, prewriting,
drafting, and revising in making me a better writer. After following these steps, I now better
understand the writing process. Despite facing challenges, I was able to complete my essay with
ease.
During the development of my visual analysis essay, Dr. Nelson's conference proved to
be very helpful as she pointed out two key elements that needed improvement. One of the
elements she highlighted was the need for me to provide more detail in each of my points. Dr.
Nelson advised me that there was more to uncover with my body paragraphs and suggested I
delve deeper into each point. For instance, she stressed the significance of the color red in the
poster and advised me to talk about what it symbolizes and the impact of its meaning in the
poster. This advice helped strengthen my arguments and make the analysis more in-depth.
Another issue Dr. Nelson brought to my attention was my statement. Dr. Nelson advised me to
improve it by adding more information to build a stronger introduction. Changing these issues
The peer review with classmates helped me improve my essay since I gained a different
perspective on my essay. The student who reviewed my essay was Jeffrey Garcia, and he helped
me improve my essay. He pointed out multiple grammar errors I had made and words I would
reputedly use. He noted some fluency issues throughout my essay and recommended ways to

address them. Overall, his feedback was constructive, and I credit him for helping me create a
stronger essay. After finishing my peer review, I edited and proofread my final draft. I identified
two main issues in my work during the process: the first paragraph and the introduction. In the
first paragraph, there was irrelevant information that I had included to meet the word count
requirements. This information was about Drew Struzan, the artist who created the movie poster,
and was unrelated to the topic. Additionally, I found repetitive information in the introduction. I
removed the repetitive sentences and added more information to the background.
While writing this essay, I encountered both challenges and aspects that came quickly to
me. The most difficult part was achieving fluency with my paragraphs. Typically, I would jot
down whatever comes to my mind and hope for the best. However, during my meeting with Dr.
Nelson, she offered valuable advice on improving my essay by digging deeper and finding more
meaning in each topic sentence. Taking her guidance, I elaborated more on what I was trying to
convey and analyzed the poster better. On the other hand, creating the three points for my
paragraph was the least challenging part of my essay. Although I faced no difficulty in gathering
my points, I often struggled to dig into a deeper meaning. I enjoyed this essay and hope to
