Subject:
Statistical Analysis
Class:
BBA (2020-2024) Semester 7th Section A
Project:
“Study on Impacts of unsafe traffic routes on student’s
academic performance”.
Declaration:
We were given the task to write an article on topic “Impacts of unsafe travel routes on
student’s academic performance”. We hereby conclude that we have not copied this
material from internet or any source and we have collected this data our self and have
performed analysis.
We pays our thanks to our supervisor Ma’am Unbreen, for teaching and providing
guidance to us. We also want to thanks the students who have responded to our
questionnaire and help us in getting the data.

Research Gap:
We have conducted this study in context of Pakistan. We as a student, also have faced
problems in our performance just because of the unsafe travelling. There have been
less researches on this topic in the past. Some of them are, Distance of homes from
educational institutes negatively affect the student performance (Bakrad S. Balabanian
(2020), (Danielle Sanderson (2023).
Transportation is an important aspect for students. It is considered as a problem in
Pakistan, as in other countries like western countries, there are no separate facilities
available to students regarding transportation.

Methodology:
Our aim was to understand the relationship between unsafe travel routes and academic
performance of students. We designed questionnaires and circulated them among
students to understand what they perceive about it. Our study is based on Quantitative
data, not qualitative data and our target audience is students. We have gathered data
from school, college and university students and our responses are 90. We have not
went towards big sample size as it can create problems in concluding.
Students were from the age group of 18 to 30, but we got very less responses from
students with age 25 and above. Also most of our respondents were university students
with age from 18 to 24. We also gathered data about their means which they use for
example by car or public transportation and concluded that majority of them uses public
transportation, which gives us more to better understand its impact on performance.
We have excluded students which have their financial problems and are married,
because they are more prone to quit their study and gives biased data.
Over all summary of respondents is as follows:

Gender Respondents Age Educational

institution
Male 52 18 to 24 university
Female 38 18 to 24 university

We have used the SPSS 27 version to process the available data by using mean,
median and mode. Also correlation, and linear regression analysis for evaluation
purposes.

Hypothesis:
Ho: Null Hypothesis: There is no relationship between unsafe travel routes and student
academic performance.
H1: Alternative Hypothesis: There is a relationship between unsafe travel routes and
student academic performance.

Dependent variable: Students’ academic performance

Independent variable: Unsafe travel routes.

Statistical Findings:
Mean: 3.04
S.D: 2.160
Correlation: 0.088

This correlation shows a positive relationship between two variables. If one variable
increase, the other one will also increase.
R Square: 16.5%, it tells there is 16.5% change in academic performance is accounted
by unsafe travel routes.

Conclusion:

As the regression gives us the value which is smaller than 0.001, so it is

significant value and hence we reject our Ho. So there is a relationship
between unsafe travel routes and student academic performance.
