more pupils in the future, while the other two language subjects will be less significant.

number of learners for Spanish and Mandarin was just over 200 and 100 million
respectively in this year. The popularity of English will keep increasing until 2024, when
it will have 700 million pupils and then it will drop slightly. At this time, the figure of
Spanish and Mandarin learners will be the same, about 300 million students. After an
insignificant decrease from 2024 to 2026, the number of English studies will have a slow

after that, both of them will rise sharply to 500 million for Spanish and 580 million for
