WRITING TASK 1

The given pie charts compare the percentages of students speaking other languages besides English
from 2000 to 2010 at a British university. Looking from an overall perspective, it is readily apparent that
the percentages of “no other language”, “another language” and “two other languages” increased
significantly in the same amount, while Spanish remained steadily, two spoken languages (German and
French) dramatically declined.

In 2000, percentages of students were not able to use other languages are greatest compare to 6
categories, while students using another language besides French, German, Spanish are half of it. A
decade later, They are both increase 5% roughly ( 35% and 15% respectively). Similarly, students using
two other languages (10%) in 2000, rising significantly to 15% in 2010.

The remaining data is the percentages of Germen and Spanish. Spanish speakers are 20%, whereas
Germen speakers are 5% lower than the Spanish speakers. However, comparing to 2010 proportions of
students speaking both languages dropped to 10% in the same time.
