Many teenagers turn to their friends whenever they have a problem or a difficult decision to

make. This is very common among young people. Some people believe, that it’s wrong, because
teenagers have no experience. And others believe, that it’s good, because they understand each
other.

To begin with, friends create a comfort atmosphere. They understand how difficult a
situation can be for someone. For example, young people are aware of issues regarding their parents
or problems about the situation at home.

What is more, they have a language to understand each other. They offer empathetic
listening. Teenagers can have relatable experiences. For this reason it’s easier for someone to open
up about their issues.

However, parents have knowledge and experience. They are needed to pro vide sound
guidance. Misleading advice can lead to irreversible decisions. For instancje, bad advice can make the
situation worse. Therefore, a bigger problem may arie.

Another point is, teenagers can create a rumor. They can say your issue to everyone they
know. For example, after telling friends about your problem or difficult decision to make, they can
tell others about it.

Furthermore, young people may miss out something important. They can forget about good
advice. Adults can offer valuable insight, which they have from their life experiences.

To sum up, there are advantages and disadvantages of seeking help from friends. They play a
vital role in teenagers’ lifes. On the one hand it can be seen that help from friends is good, cause they
understand us. And from the other hand adults can offer more, because of their experiences.
