COURSE OBJECTIVES:
To know the fundamental political structure & codes, procedures, powers, and duties of Indian
government institutions, fundamental rights, directive principles, and the duties of citizens.

UNIT I 4 hours

Introduction: Framing of Indian Constitution, Salient features of Indian Constitution, Preamble of the
Constitution.
UNIT II 2 hours

Fundamental Rights and its Restriction and limitations in different complex situations. Directive principles
of State policy and its present relevance in Indian society, Fundamental Duties.

UNIT III 2 hours

Union Government: Executive President, Prime Minister, Council of Ministers, Parliament Lok Sabha
& Rajya Sabha. Supreme Court.

UNIT IV 2 hours

State Government: Executive Governor, Chief Minister, Council of Ministers, State Legislature-
Legislative Assembly & Legislative Council, High Court.

UNIT V 3 hours

Election Commission. Positive and Negative aspects of Engineering Ethics, Professional Risks and Safety.
