User Instruction

for
VIKING Immersion Suit Test Kit
Requirements for conducting the on-board test:

• The air used for inflation must be clean and free of water, oil and
impurties.
• The air supply must be no higher than 2 bar.
• A pressure reducing valve may be installed between the compressor
and the face sealing.
• Test kit, VIKING item no. 1041666.

Important!

Please be informed that if the air pressure test is preformed on board


a “Certificate of Re-inspection” can not be issued.

This type of certificate can only be issued if the immersion suit has been
handed in for service and re-inspection by a VIKING Life-Saving Equipment
A/S approved servicing station.
Unfold and flatten the immersion suit on
a table or similar.

Fold the sleeves as shown.


Mount the wrist sealing clamps (if the
immersion suit is not mounted with
gloves) on the sleeves.

Make sure that the clamps are mounted


correctly so that they are tight.
Insert the bottom part of the face seal
into the hood.

Close the zipper completely.

Mount the upper part of the face seal.


Make sure that the zipper is placed
correctly as shown.

Tighten the face seal as hard as possible


by hand.

Make sure that there are no wrinkles


around the seal edge.

Connect the pressure meter and the air


flow tap.

Connect air supply to the valve as


shown.
Inflate the immersion suit to a pressure
of 20 mbar +/-1.

Hold the pressure at 20 mbar.


Use the air flow tap to top up if
necessary.

Cover the entire immersion suit with


soapy water. Pay special attention to
zippers and seams.
The soapy water can be applied with
spray or with a sponge.

Inspect the immersion suit thoroughly for


leaks.

Leaks will be evident by air bubbles.


Pay special attention to zippers and
seams.

In case of leaks, the immersion suit


must be sent to a VIKING Life-Saving
Equipment A/S authorised servicing
station for repair.
(IMO MSC/Circ. 1114, section 3,4)

Please note!
Leaks may appear by the face seal
during inflation.

This is normal and will not affect the test


procedure.
After the test rinse the immersion suit
with clean water.

See example of recommended rinsing


procedure.

Dry the immersion suit thoroughly.

It is very important that the immersion


suit is completly dry before storing.

VIKING also recommend to hang dry the


immersion suit.
