Reflection Essay 3

Some things I have learned about peer-reviewed journal articles and the rhetorical

situation in this third essay unit, is to analyze the conclusion and abstract to find the main

argument of what the research peer reviewed paper could be about.

Some concepts of rhetorical analysis of an academic rhetorical situation in other courses

and writing situations is by being able to analyze a paper which has been previously peer

reviewed and be able to pick out bits and pieces of the paper and analyze it and write a short

excerpt of what it's about. For example in science many scientists so this to analyze a previous

scientist work faster.

Some ways which I built upon your knowledge of the drafting and revision process in

this third essay unit was by realizing how poorly drafted my paper was and taking in

consideration of the conference with Dr Sharity Nelson more serious so it could be steered into

the right direction, and i could rewrite my final draft with the right TOPIC.

How some of the concepts of brainstorming, prewriting, drafting, and the revision

process help you in other courses and writing situations can be used in other courses is by just

taking more time to plan out something before just doing it. For example, the brainstorming is by

bringing 5 different ideas of an essay topic to the professor so she can decide if its right or
wrong, in other classes that can be useful as well so it can help prevent mishaps when doing an

assignment on something.

Conferencing and receiving feedback with the English instructor helped me improve my

rhetorical analysis essay by helping redirect my paper into the right direction of how a peer

reviewed research paper is supposed to be written.

2-3 specific elements of your draft that you changed based on instructor feedback and

explain why and how you made changes, was my thesis statement, my introduction, and some

grammar mistakes which were made all throughout my essay.

Some ways peer review with a classmate helps you improve your rhetorical analysis

essay was just by pointing out some extra details that could have been missed during the

conference with the professor, or just any other mistakes that were not able to be covered during

the time limit in the conference.

why and how you made changes, not much was changed, all my peer reviewed feedback was just

mistakes done in my introduction dealing with my thesis statement, and just a lot of grammatical

errors.

The most challenging part of this essay assignment was finding the peer reviewed

research paper, and why it was so hard finding it was because I had 5 papers picked out but later

I realized I was searching for the wrong type of research paper.

How did you attempt to overcome this challenge? I asked my professor for help and she

helped find a research article which I would be able to write an essay about.

What resources did you consult to address this challenge? I used the resources of my

professor to help overcome this challenge.


How does recognizing this challenge help you prepare for future writing assignments, it

helps by taking my challenge i have and breaking it down and try using my resources which this

course has available to try and overcome it.

The least challenging part of this essay assignment was peer review because my partner

was really nice and helped break down what I could do to fix my essay and what I could do to

put it at its strongest potential.
