The maps below show changes in the city of Nelson in recent times.

The two maps represent the changes in a general infrastructure of the city of Nelson since 2000
onwards.

Overall, it is clear that, a large number of developments were made throughout the period, meaning
that, new facilities and premises were constructed or existing ones were removed or replaced, however,
just the university building was remained the same.

To start with, the block of residence was built to the west of the university and the covered market was
one of the new constructions, which was built to the east of the town centre. Further, trees were cut
down and shopping mall was added there, the exactly opposite of the covered market. One feature that
is different is the replacement of the old market to the store. Along the port, two changes were seen so
far, to be more specific, the restaurant, bars and clubs were constructed.

Looking at the aspects with regard to transportation and roads, there is currently bicycle rental area was
added inside the city centre. In addition, old train station was removed and a redesigned one was
constructed to the south of the university, similarly, train line was built linking the city centre with the
premise which is beside the university. Finally, roads were converted into the pavement.
