The maps depict the present and anticipated future of Islip town center.
Overall, it is evident from the maps that there are plans for pedestrianizing certain areas
dedicated to shopping and housing, alongside the implementation of a new vehicular road.
Examining the current map, the town center is structured around a main road extending from
west to east. Numerous shops are situated to the north and south of this road. While the
northern part features countryside, the southern region is predominantly occupied by housing,
bordered by an eastern park and a southwestern school. Both the park and school are
connected to the main road through side roads.
Looking ahead to the predictions, a notable feature is the planned construction of a circular
road encircling the city center, designed as a dual carriageway. The central segment of the main
road is envisioned to be pedestrianized. While the southern part of Islip is expected to undergo
modest changes involving new housing and a size increase in the park, the northern section is
set for substantial transformations. The demolition of shops in this area is anticipated, making
way for the introduction of a shopping center and housing area. Additionally, plans include the
construction of a bus station to the west and a parking area to the east of the shopping center.

The provided maps depict the transformations in a section of Poulton town over a 35-year
period, starting in 1900.

Overall, It's evident from the maps that the town underwent remarkable developments during
the illustrated timeframe, primarily characterized by enhancements in residential zones and the
utilization of previously unused land for various facilities.

Initially, notable changes occurred on the North side of Baylay Street. The demolition of an old
factory and terraced houses paved the way for the construction of the new Baylay Mansions.
Simultaneously, the wasteland to the East of the factory was cleared to accommodate the
relocation of the laundry and café. The area between Trent Street and Trent underwent
modernization, with the replacement of terraced houses by flats. Additionally, Trent Street was
linked to Baylay Street.

On the Southern side of Baylay Street, the flattening of terraced houses and wasteland
facilitated the creation of Baylay Street Park, featuring a small children's play area. The
repositioning and removal of the café and Railway workers' cottages led to the construction of a
new road named New Land, along with the establishment of shops to the South-east.
Furthermore, the railway line was dismantled.
