WHAT IS A JUTE BAG?

Intro:
Our research article discusses the use of jute bags over plastic bags as a more sustainable and
eco-friendlier substitute. The jute plant is used to make jute cloth, a type of textile fiber. Jute is
closely trailed by cotton in terms of production of plant-based fiber. The fibers from jute plants,
which can reach heights of over ten feet, are collected into a single, lengthy string. Jute fibers
are therefore some of the world's longest natural textile fibers and sustainable to the
environment. It is not only eco-friendly but also a durable fibre. (Batista, n.d.)

We as Group 3 members conducted a survey related to the topic “Why Jute Bags over Plastic
Bags”?
Research methodology:
Our group used Mixed method of research methodology to conduct our survey. We used
Qualitative as well as Quantitative method of research so that we can cover facts as well as
opinions of our respondents. Online surveys and Focus group method of data collection
methods are used. Survey monkey research software is used to draft survey questions and
collect results.
For Focus group, our team members used Simple Random Probability Sampling Technique to
collect our primary data. Our target respondents were students and professors from Mohawk
College.
Following are hypothesis of our research article:
H0: People do not prefer jute bags over plastic bags.
H1: People prefer jute bags over plastic bags.
We created 9 questions to ask our respondents, which were as follows:
1. Do you prefer to shop online or in-person?
2. What types of bags you are using currently?
3. Would you like to substitute jute bags for plastic bags?
4. Reasons for using jute bags.
5. What characteristics would you look for in jute bags?

We group three team members, Global business management semester three. We are here to
conduct a survey related to white juke bags over plastic bags. To begin with, I really want to ask
you certain questions so that we can conclude our survey. So first question is that do you prefer
to shop online or in person? I do prefer to shop in person. What about yourself?
[Speaker 2 (00:24)
Yeah, perfect.

Speaker 1 (00:25)
Okay. And what type of bags do you usually use? Like when going to shopping? Usually, I use
plastic bags because they are only available in the market.

Speaker 2 (00:36)
So that's why I like to use the juice bag because they are more environment friendly and we can
reuse them plastic
Speaker 2 (00:49)
bags because most of the shops they are available.

Speaker 1 (00:55)
Okay, going on with the third question. Would you like to substitute juice bags over plastic bags?
Since you said that you're using plastic bags, why not?
Speaker 2(00:57)
Because as I am telling you that in market plastic bags are the only bags available. So if jute bags
are available in the market, I will definitely use it because it is environment friendly, it doesn't
cause any harm to environment. So that's why jute is much better than plastic.
Speaker1 (00:58)
So you are saying if given a chance, like if Walmart or Fresh coffers all the places where you go
to buy grocery, if they come up with Jude bags and they ask you to charge like $0.75 or $0.25,
would you prefer to pay them?
Speaker 3
Yes, of course. Because I don't think so. That one dollars if we pay extra harm us, but it will
cause a good benefit to environment. So of course I will prefer Jude bags. Thank you so much
about this.

Speaker 1(01:01)
Also, one last question to conclude this what characteristics would you look for in juke bags?

Speaker 3
One of the character if I'm paying more as compared to plastic bag with a jewel bag, I will see
that if it's durable, I can use it almost at least ten to 15 times.
