ANNUAL SAEED NATIONAL COMPETITION

I. IMPORTANT DATE
1) Technical Meeting : Sunday, 15th May 2022
2) Preliminary Round : Sunday, 15th May 2022 - Friday, 20th May 2022
3) Technical Meeting Final : Thursday, 26th May 2022
4) Final Round : Saturday, 28th May 2022
5) Closing Ceremony and : Sunday, 29th May 2022

II. PARTICIPANTS
1) The participants consist of 35 Junior High School Students, 35 Senior High
School Students and 35 University Students.
2) The competition is open for Junior High School Students, Senior High School
Students and University Students in Indonesia.
III. GENERAL CONDITION
1) The competition is open for Junior High School, Senior High School and
Varsity Students or equivalent in Indonesia.
2) This competition will be held online from 15th - 20th for the Preliminary round
and May 28th, 2022, for the final round.
3) Contestants are individuals.
4) Representatives for each school will be three persons at maximum.
5) Participants are limited to 35 persons for each category.
6) Winners consist of the 1st - 3rd for each category.
7) All judges' decisions and results are considered final.
8) The registration fee is not refundable.
9) One person only allowed to join one kind of competition.

IV. TECHNICAL CONDITION


1) Storytelling competition consists of 2 rounds of each category (Preliminary
Round and Final Round).
2) Participants must perform an original rendition based on provided themes.
3) Participants are highly encouraged to create their own stories based on their own
creativity, imagination, context, and originality.
4) In order to create a good story, the participants are highly recommended to find
references related to the themes mentioned.
5) The participants are given all the freedom to develop the story as creatively as
possible.
6) The participants are not allowed to bring their script or the outline of the
performed story whilst taking the video.
7) After performing in the preliminary round, 5 participants from each category with
the highest scores will be chosen as finalists for the final round.
8) Assessment will be conducted based for four categories, namely Language
proficiency (Correct, clear, and accurate pronunciation[1], Clear intonation[2],
Correct use of grammar[3], Appropriate and effective diction[4], and Fluency[5]),
Performance (Showing gestures, facial expression and eye contact which
appropriate with the story[1], Good preparedness of performance[2], Having
ability to capture listener`s attention[3], and Time[4]), Theme\ Storyline
(Creativity[1], Significant or impact the meaning[2], and Interesting[3]), and
Properties and Costume (Suitability[1], Creativity[2], and Supporting the
performance[3]).
9) The evaluation starts from numbers 50-100 for each category.
10) The rules apply to all the participants of Storytelling competition.
11) These rules may not be supplanted or modified except by an authorized
committee.
12) All the participants are obligated to obey the rules.
13) Decisions of the judge are absolute and inviolable.

PRELIMINARY ROUND

The theme for a preliminary round is “Socialization and Brotherhood”

1. JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL


• Each participant has 4-7 minutes to perform in this round and bring their
story based on the theme (Socialization and Brotherhood).
• The duration of the preliminary round of Junior High School video is 4 to 7
minutes (Including the Introduction). If the video duration is less than 4
minutes, 20 points will be deducted. If the video duration is more than 7
minutes, 1 point will be deducted for every 5 seconds.
2. SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL
• Each participant has 6-9 minutes to perform in this round and bring their
story based on the theme (Socialization and Brotherhood).
• The participants must create an original story by continuing the story in the
following box. (Choose one)

• The duration of the preliminary round of Senior High School video is 6 to 9


minutes (Including the Introduction). If the video duration is less than 6
minutes, 20 points will be deducted. If the video duration is more than 9
minutes, 1 point will be deducted for every 5 seconds.
3. VARSITY
• Each participant has 8-11 minutes to perform in this round and bring their
story based on the theme (Socialization and Brotherhood).
• The participant must create an original story.
• The ending of the story must be in the following box. (Choose one)
1 The crocodile was so happy that he didn't realize that he had provided
useful information that could help Meena escape from the cave.
Meena sees this as a great opportunity to escape from the cave. She
walked slowly towards the tunnel. Finally, she was free and he
returned home safely. Her parents were very grateful when they saw
him.

• The duration of the preliminary round of Senior High School video is 8 to 11
minutes (Including the Introduction). If the video duration is less than 8
minutes, 20 points will be deducted. If the video duration is more than 11
minutes, 1 point will be deducted for every 5 seconds.
4. We recommend all storytelling’s participant to mix the story with full of creativity
(MIN; 2 stories MAX; 5 stories). ex: “Cinderella and Aurora: The End of The
World”
5. TEXT
• The text of the story is typed in:
a. Times New Roman
b. Font size of 12
c. Space 1.5
• Must include Name, Participant’s school, Title of the story, and Story.
• The text submission for the preliminary round starts from Sunday, 15th May
2022 - Friday, 20th May 2022, at 11:59 PM.
• Upload the text of the story to your Google Drive and copy the link, and send
the link to https://bit.ly/ASNC2022_StoryTelling
6. VIDEO
• The participants are only allowed to upload a one-take video through Google
drive and drop the link on https://bit.ly/ASNC2022_StoryTelling (Editing is
allowed but does not affect scoring)
• The video must include all the participant’s movements and the layout of the
video is landscape.
• The video submission for the preliminary round starts from Sunday, 15th
May 2022 - Friday, 20th May 2022, at 11:59 PM.
• Upload the video to your Google Drive and copy the link, and send the link
to https://bit.ly/ASNC2022_StoryTelling
• Those who do not upload the video before Friday, 20th May 2022, at 11:59
PM will be disqualified.
7. After you submitted the video and script, you can confirm to our contact person
Latifah Azmul (+6285702171699).

FINAL ROUND

The final round will be held through an online meeting. All finalists will be invited
to the WhatsApp group by the committee. Show queue numbers will be discussed
together with the finalists on WhatsApp the day before the final round.

• The duration of the final round for Junior High School participants is 2 to 3
minutes (not including the preliminaries). If a participant is performing for
less than 2 minutes, 20 points will be deducted. If a competitor appears for
more than 3 minutes, 1 point will be deducted for every 5 seconds.
2. SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL
• Will be given a raffle with one selection places and one important event.

• The duration of the final round for High School participants is 3 to 4 minutes.
If a participant appears for less than 3 minutes, 20 points will be deducted. If
a participant is performing for more than 4 minutes, 1 point will be deducted
for every 5 seconds.
3. VARSITY
• Will be given a raffle with one selection places, one selection figures, and
one selection important events.

• The duration of the final round for the Varsity level is 4 to 5 minutes. If a
participant appears for less than 4 minutes, 20 points will be deducted. If a
participant is performing for more than 5 minutes, 1 point will be deducted
for every 5 seconds.
4. Participants will get clues according to category to choose several choices of
words randomly through a raffle.
5. Signs of competition:
Use of bells and flags
a. The sound of the first bell with the screen turning green indicates the
beginning of the story;
b. The second bell sound with a yellow screen change indicates that the
remaining time is 1 minute;
c. The third buzzer with the screen change to red indicates the time is up and
the score reduction will start.
V. SCORING ASPECTS
1. Language proficiency
Score will be awarded based on the following:
a) Correct, clear, and accurate pronunciation
b) Clear intonation
c) Correct use of grammar
d) Appropriate and effective diction
e) Fluency
2. Performance presentation
Score will be awarded based on the following:
a) Showing gestures, facial expression and eye contact
b) Appropriate with the story
c) Good preparedness of presentation
d) Having ability to capture listener’s attention
3. Theme / Storyline
Score will be awarded based on the following:
a) Creativity
b) Significant or impact the meaning
c) Interesting
4. Properties and Costume
Score will be awarded based on the following:
a) Suitability
b) Creativity
c) Supporting the performance

SCORING TECHNIQUE

1. Each criterion scored from 50-100 final score


2. The rules apply to all the participants of the Storytelling competition. These rules
may not be supplanted or modified except by an authorized committee. All the
participants are obligated to obey the rules.

Notes:

• The judges’ decision is final and cannot be contested


• Other things that have not been listed will be determined later by the committee
based on appropriateness.
