In our country, Rheumatoid Arthritis is a prevalent illness that mostly affects the elderly population, but can also be
present in the younger counterparts as well. The use of our rheumatoid factor (RF) and its corresponding tests is one of
the procedures that aid in the diagnosis of RA, along with the clinical picture of the patient, X-ray, and other lab findings.
In this exercise, the different tests for the RF were discussed, namely the Sensitized Sheep Erythrocytes Agglutination
Test and the Latex Agglutination Test and both of their advantages and disadvantages were portrayed. Lastly, we were
shown how to read and interpret our results, to which a positive result was indicated by agglutination, and a negative
result showing a uniformly milky suspension on the reaction slides.
