Guideline and Requirement

(OPUS files and Whatsapp Screen Capture)

1. This is a message translation job and the delivery is final for court use. Please be careful in ensuring
quality, accuracy and completeness. Please note our client may need you to issue certificate and/or
attend court to assure the truthfulness and correctness of the transcription and translation.
2. All the materials in this project are confidential investigation material. Please ensure confidentiality
and never disseminate any of the contents as you are bound by Official Secrets Act. Once you are
paid by us for the delivery, please ensure to delete all the materials on your side.

3. How to do this job: Below are the method to deal with different types of messages:

1) Pure English messages:


Just put “Translation : NA” below the message.
In such case, please put “NA” on Excel sheet under Translation column.
2) Pure Malay message or Malay/English/Other language mixed messages: To put translation as
following example, where translated texts are in bold/italic fonts:
Translation:
Who knows, know I quitted, I'm just helping to recommend to this guy tomorrow.
In such case, please copy source message and translation on Excel sheet under Translation column.
3) OPUS audio file messages:
- To copy file name to search/open the OPUS file in the ‘AnnexB_opusAudioFiles’ folder
- to type out the message in the original said languages in black font, and then translate into
English in red font.

Example as follows:

To put the following below the above message:


Audio message: Sape tahu, tahu la I quited, I'm just helping to recommend to this guy tomorrow
Translation: Who knows, know I quitted, I'm just helping to recommend to this guy tomorrow

In such case, please copy transcribed audio message and translation on Excel sheet under message
Translation column. The copied Excel sheet will look as follows:

Please copy the message (both transcribed OPUS file audio message and source text message) and
translation to EXCEL file provided (See ‘Text_ForPaymentComputation’ worksheet on the admin file
for you. This will enable us to compute the word count and payment to you.

4. Some points to note:


- If there is Tamil or other languages, please note down the possible language followed by double question
mark. E.g., [in Tamil ??]
- Where you feel it necessary to put any notes/remarks, put in the following format: [Translator note: xxx ]
- Any other notes, please put in bracket [].
Eg., [Unclear], [Audio not played], [Music playing]
- Please use proper punctuation in both transcribed and translated texts, in particular, to use stop at the
end of the last sentence.

E.g.,

I am waiting when will 14th of the second month (14 February) will come. Mother.. if 14 February is
ending, if it comes by then, I feel like seeing”

It is desirable to put stop at the end of the last sentence to make it:

“I am waiting when will 14th of the second month (14 February) will come. Mother.. if 14 February is
ending, if it comes by then, I feel like seeing.”
