CONTEXT AND RATIONALE

Kindergarten is a crucial stage for a child development. It provides children with

an opportunity to learn and practice the essential skills such as reading, writing or

other skills that may be developed. In this current situation of our teacjhing method,

phonetic awareness helps the kindergarten students of Ibaba Elementary School to

gain more knowledge.

Teachers of Ibaba Elementary School face the challenge of serving all children

entering the classroom, regardless of their diverse abilities, while ensuring that

everyone is successful. It is important to know that learning to read is a learning

process when a student's brain develops in areas that are capable of learning. A

solid understanding of alphabetic principles and phonological awareness are

fundamentals that all students must develop before becoming fluent speakers. To

accomplish this, educators may need to slow down the pace of instruction for

some students and provide more instruction depending on the student's level of

instruction. Directly teaching phonemes helps students understand sounds

correctly and builds a foundation for reading comprehension skills. Phonemic

awareness skills are very important for students to develop because it helps you

to become more successful and they use these skills when they learned new

words. The skills of phonemic awareness helps you to read, spell or much more.

Phonemic awareness instruction in the classroom, with direct instruction in

lbaba Elementary School, is beneficial for all learners and a variety of language

abilities. It is important to remember that students who are successful with

phonemic awareness have a solid foundation for success.
