I. Objectives
At the end of this episode, learners from Grade 12 will be able to:

1. Describe the nature of elections and political parties in the Philippines

Motivation Picture Viewing:
a. Videos are shown on the screen
b. Allow students to identify the different kinds of Suffrage in the
Philippine setting.
A. Activity ( draw me a picture)
The other group will act the kind of suffrage and their classmates/opponents will
to guess their action according to the kinds of suffrage found on the board.
B. Analysis
The teacher will discuss the definition, importance and the different scope of suffrage.

a. What do you think is the activity all about?


b. Have you recalled a picture or a memory of the past elections that had
happened in your community?
C. Abstraction
Republic Act 8189 “Voters Registration Act of 1996” • a citizen in order to be qualified to exercise his right to
vote, in addition to the minimum requirements set by fundamental charter is obliged by law to register

a. Why do you think there is a need to know the different kinds of Suffrage in the
Philippine politics and government?
b. Based on the law (specific article from the 1987 constitution), what are the
responsibilities of a Filipino citizen to his country that mandates his obligation to
participate in this acts of Suffrage.
D. Application
a. Group the students into 5 groups. Give each group a copy of a best example of each
kind of suffrage.

b. Instruct them to choose a striking scenario to explain each scope of suffrage,


allowing learners to express their own opinion through Music, Rap, comical skit, drawing or any
activity as long as the scopes of suffrage is highlighted in their groupwork.

c. The leader in each group will pick the tasks to be done.

E. Evaluation
The following rubrics will be used in assessing the learners’ performance.

V. ASSIGNMENT
Case Analysis: Q: Juan, is of legal age and of sound is illiterate. He has asked your advice on
how he can vote in the coming election for his brother is running for mayor. This will be the first
time “Juan” will vote and he has never registered as a voter before. What advice will you give him on
the procedure he needs to follow in order to be able to vote?

Performance Task:
As a Senior High School Learners, look for some pictures from old books or from the
internet and post important captions on the relevance of participating to the different
scopes of Suffrage as a member of the society and as a Filipino citizen.
