Executive Summary

Bunnies Bakery will specialize in custom cakes, cupcakes, and cookies. What will set us apart
from our competition is that all our baked goods will be made from organic, preservative, and
dye-free products. Along with our custom goods, we will offer decorate your own cookie boxes
for holidays and special occasions. Our vision will be to provide healthy custom bakes goods at a
price that is reasonable. Our target audience will be families that are looking for healthier
alternatives to traditional baked goods.

Due to the growing market, our competitors will be other bakeries that are trying to offer
healthier options for their clients. To open our bakery, we will have to purchase a commercial
kitchen space, we will have to pay for inspections, we will have to make sure everyone has their
food handlers permit, and we will have to be registered through the state and an LLC. By
creating an LLC, our personal assets will be protected from lawsuits.

As a commercial bakery, to get up and running, we will need to find a space that is already set up
with a commercial kitchen. If there is nothing available, we would have to spend the money to
renovate a building. We would have to purchase all the needed equipment needed to make our
products. We will also have to source the organic, dye free ingredients.

The projected cost to start my business is approximately $206,700. The first year, I would have
to do most of the work myself to keep costs down. After the first year, I should be in a good
place financially to be able to hire a couple of workers. My projected profit for the first year
would be $100,000.

Business Plan Phase 1

1. Description of business
 My business will be a bakery. We will specialize in custom cakes, cupcakes, and
cookies. What will set us apart from our competition is that all our baked goods
will be made from organic, preservative, and dye-free products. Along with our
custom goods, we will offer decorate your own cookie boxes for holidays and
special occasions.
2. Business environment
 My business environment will be a commercial retail bakery. Our SIC Code will
be 5461. We will have several commercial baking ovens, sinks, prep tables,
refrigerators, and display cases. According to The Business Research Company,
the market size of organic bakery products is expected to grow to $13.81 Billion
in 2027. (The Business Research Company) In a press release from Infinity
Business Insights, they stated “ The organic bakery market is growing rapidly due
to increasing consumer awareness of the importance of healthy and sustainable
food options.” (Infinity Business Insights) Due to the growing market, our
competitors will be other bakeries that are trying to offer healthier options for
their clients. In order to open our bakery, we will have to purchase a commercial
kitchen space, we will have to pay for inspections, we will have to make sure
everyone has their food handlers permit, and we will have to be registered through
the state and an LLC.
3. Our vision statement will be: Providing healthy custom baked goods at a price that is
good for everyone.
 Our 3 core values are:
i. Providing healthy alternatives to traditional ingredients.
ii. Pricing our goods at competitive prices.
iii. Creativity
4. Business structure
 Our business structure will be a Limited Liability Corporation. By creating an
LLC, my personal assets will be protected from lawsuits. In baking, lawsuits can
occur from clients getting food poisoning, or getting hurt in the building.
5. Management Team
 Owner: I will handle all the start-up operations. I will manage the day-to-day
business and make hiring decisions.
 Accounting: An accountant will handle all of the money and tax filing. They will

Marketing Plan

1. Target Market
a. The target market for my bakery is health-conscious families that are looking for
healthier alternatives to traditional baked goods. These goods include cookies,
cupcakes, and birthday cakes.
b. The demographic of my target market would be younger to middle aged adults
who may or may not have young children. These are health-conscious people who
probably have gym memberships and show at health food stores for their
groceries. These individuals are concerned about how the ingredients in their food
is grown. They are very cautious about added artificial dyes in their foods.
c. I believe we would do better if we did a niche approach. Even though everyone
cares about their health. If we market our products specifically to the niche market
of health-conscious parents, we would do better.
2. Product
a. Our products will be baked goods make from organic ingredients. We will have
organic cookies, cupcakes, muffins, and cakes. The icing used on the cookies,
cupcakes and the cakes will be artificially dye free. We will use organic food dyes
like, beets, carrots, and berries. We will be a full-service bakery. We will accept
custom cake, cupcake, and cookie orders, as well as decorate your own cookie
kits.
3. Promotion
a. I want the image of my product to be a safe product for families looking for
alternatives to traditional baked goods. I want these to be thought of as a healthier
option than other bakeries goods.
b. I plan on advertising in my local social media pages and local newspapers. I think
word of mouth will be a great help in getting people interested in my business.
c. I plan on hosting several promotions that include, discount products, bundle
discounts, and free products. These promotions will be sporadic and used to get
business into my shop.
4. Pricing
a. My pricing will be based on the cost of goods. In the beginning, I will offer goods
at a low profit margin for myself, to get business. Once I have a steady flow, I
will gradually increase my pricing to be competitive with other life businesses.
b. To go along with pricing, our small cakes will start at $48.

c. Our cookies will be priced at $12 each. (Mable Maes)
5. Place
a. Our business will be a building with a storefront. It will be a dry storage area as
well as a large refrigeration area. We will need industrial mixers, ovens, and prep
tables. We will also need large display cases.
b. We will not need any distribution equipment.
Financials
1. Capital Requirements
a. As a commercial bakery, to get up and running, I will need to find a space that is
already set up with a commercial kitchen. If there is nothing available, I would have
to spend the money to renovate the building. I would have to purchase all the needed
equipment needed to make my products. I will also have to source the organic, dye
free ingredients.
 What a commercial bakery needs
 Building- $5,000 per month
 Building renovations-$60,000
 Commercial kitchen equipment-$50,000
 Baking and decorating equipment- $5,000
 Point of sale equipment- $150 per month
 Display cases-$2000
 Stock of ingredients- $15,000
 Advertising-$5,000

a. To start my business, I will use a combination of family investments and small

business loans from the bank. Also, I will have family members help where they can
with the renovations in hopes to save money there.

2. Financial Projection
a. The projected cost to start my business is approximately $206,700.
b. The first year, I would have to do most of the work myself to keep costs down. After
the first year, I should be in a good place financially to be able to hire a couple of
workers.
c. My projected profit for the first year would be $100,000. This means it would take
almost 4 years to make back my investment.
3. Risk Analysis
a. The biggest risk for my business would be people not ordering our products. We
would have to market ourselves very well, offer discounts, and hope for customer
referrals.
b. We also must worry about foodborne illness coming from your bakery.
