My
Globalization
Story
Presented by: Hannah Maranon

ABOUT ME

Hi, I’m Hannah!

I am a 19-year-old USLS Bacolod student
pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Tourism
Management.
There’s a lot of things that I love such as
watching movies, golfing, swimming, and
hanging out with my friends. But do you know
what I enjoy doing the most? Sharing my stories,
experiences, and learnings with others because
doing so may have a big influence on their life.
So, allow me to share one of the stories that
shaped me into a more open and better person.
And that story is none other than my
"Globalization Story."

INTRODUCTION

Introduction
Some people find studying the contemporary world to be boring, and
some of them can't even stand to remain in class long enough to hear the
class discussion. They have no idea that there are hundreds of lessons in
this course that we can use to not only better ourselves but also to free
this world from injustice, chaos, and division. These may sound dramatic,
but the truth is that without this field, we would know less about the real
world and the common subject known as "globalization." If you're not
convinced, allow me to list the key lessons I took away from the
aforementioned course and the benefits it has given me in my personal
life.

Chapter 1
My Globalization
Story

MY GLOBALIZATION STORY

I BECAME AWARE
OF WHAT’S The formats in which news is presented have expanded
beyond previous limits. It's no longer just the 7 p.m.
HAPPENING televised broadcast. We connect with the websites we
AROUND THE visit, the tweets we read, and the Facebook posts we like
WORLD on a regular basis. These bits of knowledge contribute to
our perspective and help us formulate our own
judgments. Therefore, it assists me in opening my eyes
to the difficulties occurring in the real world and molds
my perspective of the world, and as a result, I am able to
take action and make decisions based on how I perceive
the world to be.

MY GLOBALIZATION STORY

The fact that each and every one of us is unique

in our own very special way is one of the greatest
and most beautiful aspects about humanity.

IT ENCOURAGED ME However, without acceptance and respect,

humanity loses all of its beauty. We should thus
MORE TO RESPECT acknowledge and embrace such differences
rather than becoming afraid of them. And that's
AND ACCEPT exactly what this course taught me—to respect
other people's cultures, beliefs, and traditions
OTHER CULTURE and to regard everyone equally, as God does.
AND BELIEFS This will stitch together the borders that
separate our nations and bring individuals from
all around the world together as one.

06
MY GLOBALIZATION STORY

Use the power and advantage of

media
We cannot escape modernization and the discovery of innovative
technologies as the globe ages and develops, one of which is the
emergence of media. As a result, media is currently regarded as a
medium that is essential to the growth of globalization, interaction, and
many cross-border flows of information and images, including global
news broadcasts, television shows, new technologies, movies, and music.

As a result, I learned that the media should not become a source of

danger and fears. Given the prevalence of anxiety and depression these
days, it is especially important for us as active media users to exercise
awareness in what we share online and how we use it. Rather than
misusing its advantages, let us make the most of it as a platform to
motivate others, advocate for social issues, and share helpful information.

07
MY GLOBALIZATION STORY

I learned that being aware of the history of other

countries is a way to support diversity and express
I TRY TO LEARN AND
appreciation for the rich histories they hold. Harmony UNDERSTAND THE
will rise and connectivity will get stronger and reach HISTORY OF
new heights as a result. Now is the time for us to put an
end to the conflicts of the past and turn them into a
OTHERS
force for peace and unity rather than a means of
extending the atrocities. We are all just the same, after
all: nations with scars, nations with incredible stories to
tell, and nations full of bravery. Forgiveness is the first
step in making our world a place where equality and
peace will always prevail. Rather of dwelling on the past,
let us encourage one another in achieving our goals and
forgiving one another's faults.

THINK GLOBAL
BUT ACT LOCAL

THINK GLOBAL BUT LOCAL

COMMUNITY OUTREACH As ordinary citizens, I believe it is seemingly one of our

responsibilities to uplift, teach, and inspire children along
their path. It is part of our activity in which we traveled to
a remote area to educate children about fundamental
knowledge. When we got there, we saw children waiting
for us inside the church, their eyes full with hope and
eagerness to learn. Therefore, in an effort to aid these
kids in learning from us, my classmates and I traveled
back and forth to this remote area. I always feel happy
when I help someone else, and at the same time, I am
reminded about all the blessings I have. I also believe we
are blessed so we can help others. Lastly, helping these
kids brings us joy and it is fulfilling to be able to help
others along their way. I also feel a sense of
accomplishment, that our life has meaning and I can
make a difference in the world.

THINK GLOBAL BUT LOCAL

RED CROSS YOUTH

In an effort to reach my full potential as a humanitarian leader, I have also joined Red Cross Youth, a volunteer
organization. Our mission is to respond to disasters, conflicts, and natural disasters by offering assistance and
relief. After I joined this group, I became aware of local and global humanitarian initiatives, which helped me
better understand other people's challenges. Additionally, participating in its youth programs allowed me to
interact with individuals from different backgrounds, encouraging cultural exchange and understanding. This
exposure also helps me break down stereotypes and promotes a more interconnected and empathetic global
community. Finally, becoming a member of the Red Cross Youth gave me the opportunity to advocate for these
global issues by taking part in campaigns and initiatives that raise awareness and promote positive change.
