On Tuesday, September 22, 2020, I learned about Family Life in LFGC-I course. Here, my
lecturers started the course with tell us to ask a question about family life. And after that,
Miss Icha teaching us about family life. Miss Icha also tell us about how to use “try and +
verb”. We can use it when we need to do something and give an effort while do that thing.
And I also learned how to pronouncing the name of some city in England, like Durham,
Boscombe, and Salisbury.

After class, we have three assignment. For the phonetic transcription, I heard some
conversation between Sarah and John in ELLLO. They are talking about how is John family.
And for the listening log, Mr. Fazri and Miss Icha telling us to hear 3 audios from Listening -
English for Life – Collins and hear 2 more audios from other sources. I choose the audio
track 001-003. In 001 audio, I can hear some people talk about their how many siblings that
they have. In 002 audio, I can hear someone talk about how he and his siblings lived separate
away, but they still trying to meet in holiday time. In 003 audio, I can hear a woman talk
about her family, especialy her older sister. I also hear 2 more audios from ELLLO. The first
one audio that I found from ELLLO (https://www.elllo.org/english/1251/1278-Hana_Daniel-
VisitingLondon.htm) is about Hana who talks with Danial about things you can do in
London. And the second one audio (https://www.elllo.org/english/1001/1016-ExPat.htm) is a
conversation between Pernais from Jamaica and Doron from England that talk about life as
an Ex-Pat, people who live away from their country..

For sure, I have many struggles in listening course, I still confused while hearing some audio
with British accent, because sometime I can not got the point that they are saying. And I just
connecting all of the words that I know, and I make it a sentence or maybe I hear it more than
one until I got the word. And sometimes, the audio that I heard is not clear or sometimes the
sound is too small. I will try to do more exercises to improve my skill in listening English,
especialy audio by native speaker. And maybe I will practice my listening skill with watched
Harry Potter, because for sure I am interesting with that movie now.
