1.0 PURPOSE:
1.1 To ensure the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE’s) as basic safety
line and safeguard the personal from all types of risks, Nuricon Petroservices
Private Limited (NPSL) have this program which covers the requirements
associated with the selection, maintenance, training and use of Personal Protective
Equipments (PPE’s) to protect individuals from the actual risks which basically
covers and includes the following:
• Protective clothing.
• Protective footwear.
• Head protection.
• Hand protection.
• Eye and face protection.
• Hearing protection.
• Fall protection equipment.
• Respiratory protection.
2.1.1 Safety helmets shall be worn by all personnel at all times in the specified
area, and outside accommodation and offices.
2.1.2 Safety helmets shall be fitted with a chin strap, while working in windy
areas.
2.1.3 Safety helmets shall be made of non-conductive material.
2.2.2 In addition to the safety goggles, a face shield shall be worn when
handling corrosive or harmful products (solids or liquids).
2.2.3 Welding helmets or hand-held shield shall be used when performing arc-
welding rather than welding goggles.
2.2.4 Welding goggles shall be worn when using a cutting torch.
2.2.5 Except when required above, safety glasses shall be provided on an
individual basis, and worn by all perosonel in specified areas.
2.2.6 Eye wash stations shall be available at all location where the eye hazards
identified.
2.4 Clothing
2.4.3 Lose clothes that can be caught in moving machinery must not be worn.
2.4.4 Apron, face shield shall be worn when handling caustic or corrosive
material.
2.4.5 In cold areas, adequate thermal clothing shall be provided.
2.5.1 Safety gloves shall be provided to all company personnel and worn as
appropriate.
2.5.2 Asbestos-free high temperature gloves shall be worn when handling hot
pieces of equipment.
2.5.3 Leather welder’s gloves shall be used when welding, cutting or heating.
2.5.4 One pair of dielectric gloves shall be available for the electrician.
2.6.1 Safety boots or shoes containing steel toe shall be worn by all personnel at
all times in specified areas and outside accommodation and offices.
2.6.2 Safety boots shall be preferred to safety shoes for rig personnel, for better
ankle protection. Safety shoes may be acceptable for visitors.
