Document Development Exposition: Workplace Correspondence

Explain in detail your document’s development from planning to finish, describing your
challenges, how you overcame them, and what you learned.

Planning
Going into this assignment, I was slightly uncertain about how to format it and how to get my point
across in the way this assignment would require me to as this type of writing is very different from
the writing I typically do as a psychology major.

First Draft (for peer editing)

When writing my first draft I realized this type of writing was not so hard. I just made sure to state
my points simply but formally and drew on examples from the textbook.

Second Draft (for your packet)

For my second draft, the foundation of my assignment was mostly suitable, and I just changed a
couple words.

Final Draft (for your portfolio)

After taking the professor’s feedback into account, it confirmed that the foundation was acceptable.
I removed my last couple of lines, changed some headings, and fixed some formatting issues. This
assignment was helpful for me as it exposed me to a new type of writing that I usually do not have to
do. I enjoyed learning how to write a memo and think it will be helpful in my future career.
