Document Development Exposition: Workplace Correspondence

Explain in detail your document’s development from planning to finish, describing your
challenges, how you overcame them, and what you learned.

Planning
The planning for the email and memo didn’t take very long. I simply plugged in the information from
my instructions then made up some details from the survey I collected.

First Draft (for peer editing)

My draft was completed for my peers to review. Following the review, very little feedback was given
other than formatting issues and title capilizaion.

Second Draft (for your packet)

Final Draft (for your portfolio)

My final draft experienced the most change. My email simply had minor errors such as not
capitalizing the title of my instructions. Additionally, I added the word “just” in a sentence which was
not needed. I learned how saying just can change the meaning of a sentence and can come off in a
way different from how it was intended. My memo underwent big changes such as changing format
and overall adding of elaboration. I made sure to add more information so readers would better
understand the instructions and so the receiver of the memo had specific examples of changes being
made.
