Document Development Exposition: Workplace Correspondence

Explain in detail your document’s development from planning to finish, describing your
challenges, how you overcame them, and what you learned.

Planning
When planning my email. I struggled with the specific outline. I used an outline based on my memo
and its findings, as well as my intended audience.
When creating the usability test, I struggled to find specific questions that ensured a valuable
response. I achieved this by trying different questions on practice groups.
When planning the memo, I struggled to find a good format to follow for the usability test section. I
wasn’t sure what specific information to include or exclude.

First Draft (for peer editing)


In my first draft, I focused too much on the recommendations portion of the memo, without adding
examples for each recommendation.
I struggled to find the correct tone for my email. I achieved this by reading about clarity, cohesion,
and plain language in Graves & Graves

Second Draft (for your packet)


I revised my email to include more plain language sentence structure.
I added a conclusion section to my memo and edited the abstract and summary to match the plain
language.
I included more recommendations such as colored titles and headings.

Final Draft (for your portfolio)


For my final draft, I added a signature at the end of my email for professionalism.
Within my memo, I gave examples of each recommendation for clarity.
I added specific information on my findings to prove my point.
