Document Development Exposition: Workplace Correspondence

Explain in detail your document’s development from planning to finish, describing your
challenges, how you overcame them, and what you learned.

Planning
For planning in this assignment, I made a goal to adhere to what much of the assignment template had
offered, as I did not have much experience in the realm of memo and professional email writing.
However, I did make a general plan of getting from one point to another and ignoring the trope of
filler text.

First Draft (for peer editing)

My first draft had a general framework that correlated with the topic material being the instructions
assignment. This was done through simply assigning a darker orange shade to the headers as to liven
the document. Also, formality was a big priority in this assignment, as constructing a memo was fairly
a new topic, so adhering to a theme or formality left me feeling quite confident.

Second Draft (for your packet)

There was not much in the way of change between revisions for the packet drafts. However,
proofreading for tone errors was a priority.

Final Draft (for your portfolio)

In my portfolio draft, I attempted to tweak the structure in which the original document was presented.
One such feature being pointed out was the layout of the recommendations, which I had not paid as
much care to as I should have. To fix this, I attempted to both elaborate on the recommendations and
the fixes, as well as making it more concise and easier to gloss through while understanding the
reasoning behind the implementations.
