The following are all real Hebrew words. Read them aloud until you can read them
easily.
Five Hebrew letters have a different shape when they are written at the end of a word.
The regular and final forms of a letter are still the same letter, and they are pronounced
the same way.
CH as in BaCH ך כ
M and in Moon ם מ
N as in Now נ ן
F as in Food ף פ
TS as in NuTS ץ צ
1. ָלְך קָ ְך אֵ ֶלָך בָּ ֶניָך צַ ד מֵ צַ ב
2. מַ יִ ם ַעם אֵ ם מַ צָ ה שָׁ מַ ר בַּ ם צָ פוּן
3. בֵּ ן שָׁ ָנה נִ ין ָנטַ ע ָנתַ ן לוּן אֶ ֶפס
A Sheva in the middle of a word usually falls at the end of a syllable and is not
pronounced.
When two Shevas appear side-by-side in the middle of a word, the first is silent and the
second is pronounced with a glottal stop.
