3 USE OF MOBILE SCAFFOLD TOWERS Personnel trained in the correct erection of mobile towers
Falling from tower or access ladder Routine regular inspections of the tower to be carried out
Tools & equipment falling on persons Safe means of access - fixed internal ladder

5 USE OF HARNESSES 3 types of harness exist fall arrest, restraint and rescue ensure you are using
Falling from height the correct harness.
Abraided cut and poor quality harnesses The harness selected will require different lanyards, ask if you are unsure.
De gloving injuries Harnesses and lanyards must be inspected 6 monthly ensure yours is in date

3 3 9 User checks before using should include stitch checking, straps for freying etc
7 USE OF MOBILE ELEVATING WORK PLATFORMS (MEWP) Personnel trained & certified in the correct operation of lifts & booms (Ipaf)
Falling from tower or access ladder Daily inspections of the lift/boom to be carried out before use
Tools & equipment falling on persons Lift/boom to only be operated or moved on level ground, unless designed otherwise

34 HOT WORKS Make sure gas torch and hose are in good condition
Risk of explosion Keep gas bottle out of direct sunlight
Risk of fire When not in use keep gas bottle in securely locked area
Burns to person Make sure any ignition sources such as lighters , matches etc are kept away from gas bottle.
Manual Handling possible pulls and strains Always have a competent safety person carrying out a fire watch who is trained to use a fire extinguisher.
Electrocution Fire watch should continue for 15 minutes after hot works completed.
Aesphixiation Make sure a suitable certified fire extinguisher is at the area of work while work in progress.
Wherever possible set aside a hot works area which can be fenced and signed
Where suitable eye protection i.e goggle or welding mask 2 2 4

Use the correct abbrassive wheel for the work to be done
Only change abrasive wheels if your competent to do so
