Class: 6th Subject: Mathematics Period : 1

Topic: Number Patterns Sub topic: 5.2 Number Pattern
SLO (s) : The students will be able to :
 Learn and apply the concept of number patterns by using different figures.
Skills focused on: Identification , Critical Thinking ,Collaboration
Resource: NSM book 1,White board , Marker , Duster
Methodology :
 Brainstorming, Class Discussion, Demonstration and Board Work.
The teacher will connect the present lesson with the previous taught concepts.
 Questions will be asked from the students to check the prior knowledge like:
 Why do we need sequence of numbers?
 What is meant by sequence of numbers?
 Suggest few examples of sequence in real-world?

 Topic will be introduced and the objectives of the lesson will be shared.
 Students give examples of number pattern. Lead the student to see that number patterns repeat
within themselves e.g. 2,5,8,2,5,8,2,5, 8..
 Give a number sequence. Students study it and find the relation between the terms. Discuss and
students will identify the nth term.
 Practice Now 3 Textbook page 65, 5A, Q8 (I,ii) page 69 will be solved under the supervision of
teacher.
Activity 1:
 Recap work done on Patterns from previous classes.
 Students find the next number in a sequence and establish a rule. Listen to their answers
and explain the procedure of finding the number pattern.
 Explain that numbers are governed by specific rule and each number in a sequence is called a term.
 Activity 2 will be conducted.
 . Activity 2:
Discuss the problem-solving tip on course Book page 64
Students will be directed to the below mentioned website by sharing link in class
whatsapp groups for learning mathematical concepts:
https://www.khanacademy.org/math/algebra:introduction-to-arithmetic-sequences/a/
introduction-to-arithmetic-sequences

 Five minutes mental math activity will be done as recap of the lesson.
 Diary
Success criteria : Remember that:
 Identify the figures carefully
 Apply the basic mathematical operation to form a number pattern and formula
Assessment for learning:
Application Cards:
After explaining the concept of number pattern. Students will write one or more practical applications of
number pattern. Teacher will assess how well they communicate their knowledge.
