    THE LEGAL SYSTEM IN INDONESIA

    The legal system in Indonesia is based on Civil Law. Which is a legal system that is based on
    written and codes. The civil law legal system is used in mainland European Countries and their
    colonies, including Indonesia. The Judiciary in the Civil La Legal System is inquisitorial, meaning
    that judges play a significant role in directing and deciding a case. The Civil Law Legal System is
    divided into two basic categories: Civil Law and Public Law. The Civil Law Legal System has
    three characteristics: codification, judges are not bound by precedent or the doctrine of stare decisis,
    and the judicial system is inquisitorial.
