Lesson Objectives or Success Criteria (Word these as student actions, use verbs.)
CSTP Rationale (Describe the ways your lesson aligns with the six California Standards for the
Teaching Profession)
CSTP 4 Planning Instruction and Designing Learning Experiences for All Students
I know some of the students don’t really work well together, so I know which students I
won’t put together, as well which students work together well, and which can help
those who need more help.
Slowly just getting more rigorous in the lesson will allow the lesson and teaching to be a little
more hard. As well as managing the class so then they don’t go off task. Using different
tactics to get their attention.
Lesson Plan Content (Written narrative paragraph about the lesson content.)
I will first get everyone’s attention by telling them to just sit at their desks and get a pencil out
before they enter the classroom. Once they enter, I will talk to them about the lesson goals
and learning targets as well as what exactly I will teach them when it comes to poetry. If we
ever get off task I will use a focusing event in order to bring them back to my attention.
Continue my lesson by passing out a piece of lines paper to everyone in the class. This is
where I will ask my mentor teacher if he could help me pass the paper out with me. Once
everyone has a piece of paper, I will use the USB camera from the laptop in order to display
on the projector the example of a limerick and talk to them why and how this is a limerick. We
will brainstorm different themes that we can all find Afterwards I will do a limerick as a class
then I will allow them to write a limerick on their own about something they like to do at home.
I will walk around the classroom monitoring if the students are on task and help them out if
they need anything. Once everyone is finished, I will tell them thank you for cooperating and I
hope they had fun having me be their teacher.
Focusing Event (Describe how you will get students to focus attention on your teaching.)
Instructional Strategies (Click into that link for help describing all instructional methods you will
employ during the lesson. Remember, instructional strategies fall into one or more of the
following broad categories: DIRECT, INDIRECT, EXPERIENTIAL, INTERACTIVE,
INDEPENDENT STUDY)
Student Participation (How will you engage students and get them on board to participate?)
I will call on them by asking them to raise their hands. I will also ask students question
about the assignment or more specific what they want to write in their poem.
Formative Check (How will you check that all students are involved and engaged in the lesson?
I will walk around and check on students work, as well as help them if they get stuck.
Closure (How will you end the lesson purposefully, with intentionality?)
I will end this lesson by having some students participate and share their poem out
loud so I can assess if students have succeeded in their learning target.
Assessment (How will you assess that students achieved the lesson goals or learning targets?)
