One of the most popular and busy festivals in Vietnam is the Tet holiday.

It begins somewhere between

late January and the beginning of February. As no one has to go to work or school during this time of the
year, many people look forward to it and so do I. If I am employed at this time, I usually receive gifts or
monetary bonuses from the organization where I work. I always go to my hometown to see my family after
spending a whole year in Hanoi. A few days before New Year’s Eve, I am usually forced by my mother to
clean and decorate the house. Under the influence of the patriarchy in Vietnam, my father hardly does
anything to help out, while my mother does most of the work. She is often occupied with housework and
cooking. On New Year’s Eve, we gather around to watch TV and eat snacks. My father is often away
during this time due to his job as a policeman, but he always leaves the car to my mother so she can take
us to our relatives’ houses. At the age of 24, I still receive money from my relatives even though my father
is against it. I don’t usually have fun in Tet holiday, as this is the time to rest but ironically there are so
many chores to do and places to be. After Tet holiday, it takes time to clean all the messes we have
made.

My favorite movie is A Star Is Born. It came out in the theaters in 2018. It was a 2-hour long movie. I
watched it because it starred my favorite singer, Lady Gaga, along with A-class Hollywood actor, Bradley
Cooper. It was a love story between the two. Bradley played a famous drug addicted musician and Lady
Gaga played his secretary who later was inspired by him to become a successful musician too. Their
chemistry in the movie was so genuine that many people thought that they were a couple in real life. A lot
of soundtracks in the movie were made by Lady Gaga. To name a few, she wrote Shallow and Always
Remember Us This Way, both of which became…

My fav dish is chorizo. It’s Mexican chili sausage. It’s commonly made of pork or beef, garlic and paprika.
The meat is ground, or minced, instead of chopped. Green chorizo, made by stuffing some vegitables
such as tomatoes, chili peppers, cilantro, is served for vegitarian. In Mexico, chorizo served together with
eggs is a popular breakfast. You don’t need to go to the restaurant to get chorizo. You can find it in the
supermarket. Or you can make it on your own by mincing pork, seasoning it, wrapping it in plastic, and
storing in the freezer. I once travelled to Mexico and had this dish for breakfast and really enjoyed it.
When I came back hom, I realized it was sold in supermarket too. liked meat and spicy food.

You can grill it, fry it.

My life changing decision was to have a top surgery. I am a transgender man and I used to have gender
dysphoria before my surgery. The discomfort and irritation stemming from gender incongruence impeded
me from enjoying life, so I decided to have my breast tissues removed. It was not easy, as it would cost
me a great deal of money; henceforth, I entered the labor market when I was a sophomore to earn
money. Once I had enough money to pay for the surgery, I went straight to the hospital. After the surgery
until now, I feel confident and ready to conquer the world.

I prefer residing in the city.

- Wide variety of easily accessible transport
- Diversity (personal growth, exchange culture, improve language)
