Amber Jolly - UFO With Alien (C)
Materials:
Abbreviations:
st - stitch
sc - single crochet
inc - increase (place 2 stitches in next stitch)
sc2tog - single crochet 2 stitches together
Lines done in blue are stitches or special directions that are not repeated through out the pattern. Read through
pattern before starting.
Pattern is for personal use only. Not for retail or commercial purposes without written permission from Amber Jolly.
Alien:
Special note: If you have trouble fitting your alien in his UFO (he’s a tight fit) then try making him with one size
smaller hook then what you used for the UFO.
Leave long tail. Using the tail end and a tapestry needle, run needle through the front loop of each 10 stitches pull
tight to close. Weave in end. Position and attach face. I like to use a large tear drop shape for the eyes.
UFO:
The top edge of the seat will fold over on its self, making a ‘lip’ at the top. Using a sewing thread that matches
Color 2 (UFO seat, legs, dome top) sew bottom edge of fold (through back loops only) to main section of seat.
Be sure to keep stitch marker in place as you sew the edge down to ensure a correct count when you resume
crocheting and make your color change.
Row 15 - 45 stitches - change to Color 3 (UFO body), front loops only: [1 sc, sc inc]
Row 16 - 60 stitches - [2sc, sc inc] around
Row 17 - 64 stitches - [14 sc, sc inc] around
Row 18 - 68 stitches - [15 sc, sc inc] around
Row 19 - 72 stitches - [16 sc, sc inc] around
Row 20 - 72 stitches - back loops only: 1 sc in each st around
Row 21 - 72 stitches - 1 sc in each st around
Row 22 - 68 stitches - back loops only: [16 sc, sc2tog] around
Row 23 - 64 stitches - [15 sc, sc2tog] around
Row 24 - 60 stitches - [14 sc, sc2tog] around
Row 25 - 45 stitches - [2 sc, sc2tog] around
Row 26 - 30 stitches - [1 sc, sc2tog] around
Slip stitch bottom edge of the body section to the seat. Attach to the loops on the bottom edge of the seat. Put hook
through front loop of body section and then through the loops at the bottom of the seat section. You will have 3 loops
on your hook, pull yarn through all 3 loops. Stuff as you slip stitch around. Fasten off and weave in ends.
Fasten off, leave a long tail for sewing. Stuff, sew to underside of UFO spaced out evenly.
Slip stitch around edge of bottom for a bit more sturdiness. Fasten off, leave long tail for sewing. Sew to seat portion
across 4 to 5 stitches. Weave in ends.
The end ☺.
