Topic : Food preservation

Lydia and Gee went grocery shopping. They decided to buy nasi lemak for their lunch
on their way home. When they arrive home at 5:00 p.m., they found out the nasi
lemak was spoilt. They had thought of ways on how to avoid this from happening.

Situation 1:
Food preservation is a way to ensure that we will be able to enjoy food for a long
time.

Make a presentation on the methods of food preservation and examples of food that
can be preserved that way.

Situation 2:
Food can be preserved using more than one methods. Some methods can only be
done by factories while some can be done by ourselves at home.

Discuss the video and then list down the steps on how to make your own salted egg.

Situation 3

Food preservation technology is very important to meet the continuous demand for
food supply.
Discuss among yourselves and identify the importance of food preservation
technology. Elaborate your answers to show how is the food preservation
technology able to meet the demand for food supply in our daily life.
Situation 4:
You want to make your own home made fruit jam. Home made fruit jam are more
delicious and healthier because it does not contain as much chemical as the one
bought from the grocery store.

Make sure you take extra precaution when slicing pineapple.

You will need:


1 bowl of sliced Pineapple
3 cups of sugar
30 ml of water
Clean mason jar

Step:
1. Blend the pineapple using blender.
2. Add water into the blender.
3. Blend the two ingredient together until you get a smooth texture mixture.
4. Put the mixture inside a pan and cook on a low heat.
5. Add sugar into the mixture and stir until thickened.
6. Wait for the jam to cool and transfer the jam into a clean mason jar.
