II. PROJECT SUMMARRY

Pursuant to DO 12, S. 2015- GUIDELINES ON THE EARLY LANGUAGE AND NUMERACY

PROGRAM, Canarum ES supports the Ten Point Basic Education Agenda which states that “every child
should be a reader by Grade 1”. This school also support the advocacies of the Department of Education
about strengthening the reading program through different projects and programs.

In line with the Division Memorandum no. 003, s. 2023 “Learning Recovery Plans for the beginning
of S.Y. 2022- 2023 CRLA Result”, Canarum ES will conduct Remediation to grades 1 to 3 learners.

The result of the conducted 8th week Curriculum have shown improvement of learners from grades 1
to 3 which is why we need to sustain what we had started. I CARE (Improving Comprehension
through Reading Exercises), a project which aims to help learners improve reading comprehension
skills using different intervention materials. In this project we will be utilizing the Tablets given to us by
the Division. We will provide them reading material to be saved on the tablet and will use several Game
Application to improve their reading and comprehension skills. We will also conduct home visitation to

make sure that there’s a follow up at home. Monitoring will be done through a Reading LOG and
attendance sheets and documentation.

This Project I CARE (Improving Comprehension through Reading Exercises) will be done by
grades 1 to 3 Teachers as an Intervention to improve reading skills of CES learners. This will be done at
School or at home for five (5) Months.

III. PROJECT BACKGROUND

CRLA and 8th week Curriculum Assessment result provided us with the data of who are in need of
remediation and enhancement when it comes to reading. As our face to face classes started a lot of
changes have been observed especially in reading skills of learners (mostly are in full refresher at the
beginning of classes). We cannot deny the fact that our leaners were struggling when it comes to reading
and this will be a very big problem in the near future if not given a solution at this present time. Having
this, we from Canarum ES have thought of something to help our struggling learners; this leads to this
project I CARE (Improving Comprehension through Reading Exercises) an innovation program that
aims to help or learners improve their reading skills by utilizing the given devices and reading
application.

IV. PROJECT OBJECTIVES

This project aims to:
1. Improve reading and comprehension Skills of CES learners through utilization of the given
Tablets from the Division as a Reading Remediation material.
2. Enhance and Develop reading abilities of learners from ability grouping full/ light refresher.
3. Equip Learners with necessary reading materials
4. Assist learners at risk to improve their reading skills through reading game applications.
