OBJECTIVES OF THE ACTIVITY: To familiarize the students with the basics of ‘IE Matrix’
and real-life organizational situations in which IE matrix becomes a useful tool for strategy
development.

LEARNING OUTCOME: After successfully attempting this assignment, the students will be able
to develop an IE matrix and make strategies and decisions accordingly.

SCENARIO: ‘Procter & Gamble (P&G)’ is a prominent worldwide producer of fast-moving

consumer goods. Over the years it has engaged in outstanding strategic management practices. It
has also earned remarkable profits in the Pakistani market. P&G is offering a range of products in

 Pampers
 Head & Shoulders
 Olay
 Safeguard

Suppose P&G has hired you as their chief strategic manager in Pakistan to strategize each of
the above-mentioned products. You are expected to suggest a strategy for each product by making
an IE matrix and looking at its position in the same matrix i.e., in quadrant numbers I, II, III, IV,
V, VI, VII, VIII, or IX.
REQUIREMENTS:
Carefully read the material “IE Matrix for Assignment #1” provided in the download
section of LMS, and answer the following questions:

1. Based on the following table’s hypothetical values of IFE scores, EFE scores, and revenue
percentage, fill the IE matrix solution file (available in the Download section of LMS) just like
the one present on page # 3, Figure 2 of the provided study material “IE Matrix for
Assignment #1” (available in the Download section of LMS) and identify which product falls in
which quadrant of the IE matrix i.e., either I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, or IX.

NOTE: Use the IE matrix solution file format that is provided in the download section of LMS
for solving this assignment. A pie slice within the circles is not required. However, the answer
will be marked based on the position of the circle and the approximate sizes of the circle.

Mention the name of the product or serial number with the circles in the IE matrix.

Products Percentage Revenue IFE Scores EFE Scores

2. Pampers 53% 3.9 2.5
