1.

Topic: Inquest
Reflection: Inquest is very necessary in crime or suspected crime. I came to know that
requisition form, inquest panchmana and marnottar form are required for conducting postmortem
examination. Without these documents one registered medical practitioner should not conduct the
postmortem. I think that Medical Examiner System should be implemented in our country, that it
will help in time saving and give more accurate results.

2. Topic: Decomposition
Reflection: How to conduct autopsy in case of decomposition, in decomposition injury cannot
be easily appreciated, so we learn how to appreciate injury in case of decomposition, we learn
about all changes of decomposition like adipocere, mummification.

3. Topic: Mechanical injury


Reflection: I came to know types of mechanical injuries, those are abrasion, contusion,
laceration and fracture. They help me to reconstruct the act of crime and also help me to reach up
to cause of death.

4. Topic: OP Poisoning
Reflections: I have learned how to handle cases of poisoning in clinical setting, how to collect
samples of gastric contents and procedures involved for sending the samples to forensic science
laboratory. The procedures involved in conducting the autopsy of poisoning cases; e.g. How to
collect samples and what are the samples required in suspected case of poisoning. Treatment of op
poisoning is very crucial so, I will learn about the management and treatment of poisoning cases,
particularly op poison because it is more prevalent in India among farmers.

5. Topic: Drunkenness
Reflections: Examination of Drunken person should be mandatory. I have learned about how to
take consent of drunken person; if consent is not given by the individual then examination should
be conducted without consent of drunken person, if requested by police; how to collect sample and
procedure for sending the samples to Forensic Science Laboratory, particularly when you are
posted in rural areas. This knowledge will be useful during trial of drunken person.

6. Topic: Hanging
Reflection: I came to know that it is the commonest method of asphyxial deaths. Suicidal
manner is most common in hanging, though homicide and accidental cannot be excluded. Some
signs like, dribbling of saliva is the surest sign of hanging and characteristic PM Lividity
distribution are very helpful in addition with ligature mark. I think that X ray of neck is helpful in
detecting hyoid bone fracture in application of virtual autopsy.
7. Topic: Drowning
Reflections: Autopsies of drowning are more prevalent here. I have learned about the external
and internal signs of drowning cases; e.g.- examination of clothes, characteristics of froth,
cadaveric spasm, pm lividity, cutis anserina, kissing lungs, stomach contents and if any injuries
are present then doing examination of injuries accordingly, etc. I will also be able to use this
knowledge to teach juniors.

8. Topic: Skeletal Remains


Reflections: Identification is quite challenging when it comes to cases of skeletal remains. I
have learned how to perform, what are the procedures to be followed during conducting the
postmortem examination of skeletal remains and morphological knowledge of bones. This
knowledge will be helpful to me during my rural posting as a Medical Officer. I will learn the
anatomy of bones thoroughly and will apply this knowledge.

9. Topic: COPRA
Reflection: We lean full form of copra act. We learn about aim and objective of act., we learn
about what are the methods to apply under this act, what is procedure of trial, what are the
limitations of this act, who is covered this act and immune from this act.

10. Topic: Medical Termination of pregnancy


Reflection: I came to know that this act is very helpful for female who need abortion and came
under MTP act criteria. The criteria are social, eugenic, therapeutic and humanitarian. The MTP
act and its amendment will be helpful me during my PHC bond and in my whole carrier.
